LEARN (by Rick Mereki)
A nice reminder of what life’s all about.
Life can be pretty.

The city woke up with a vengeance this weekend after Winter kept us all hibernating away with its bitter winds, glossy ice, and fluffy snowflakes. As this may well have been my last blizzard in Oklahoma, I look back fondly on the days spent shut away with a lovely friend and family, despite having a burst pipe due to the below-freezing chill.

For a few blissful days, I had no responsibilities and all was quiet outside my front door as Nature whiteouted the city.

Nothing keeps the spirit warmed like a little bit of crazy Christmas cheer and Jane Austen.

Or discovering how to make a muy delicioso cup of hot cocoa. Mixed with Famous Amos cookies? Perfection.

Or the subtle spiciness of chocolate chai cupcakes.
I hope I enjoy this bout of Spring-like (perhaps even Summer-like) weather half as much as I enjoyed Snowmageddon 2011. It really did live up to its hype.

I still find it hard to believe, but six months have passed since my roommate neatly folded her life into two suitcases and moved to Korea. So much has happened in this time—France, interviews, Ryan Reynolds coming back onto the market, Prince William getting engaged—that I thought I wouldn’t know where to begin when I finally saw her face-to-face again.

But when we met up for lunch, things were as they should be, and we simply picked up where we left off. No glitches. No hesitancies. Just a lot of omg-ness.

She is jetting back to Korea in a few hours, but we did not say good-bye. It was so very good to see her, and we left each other with a promise to meet up again in 6 months.
After nearly 21 years of schooling, the end is finally here. How frightening.
